Python Backend Engineer – Treebula

We are looking for a skilled Python Backend Engineer to help shape the future of Treebula, Sweden’s leading digital marketplace for forest owners. As a Python Backend Engineer at Treebula:

You will collaborate closely with frontend engineers, designers, and product teams to design, develop, and maintain core features of our platform. You will work with Python/Django to build scalable services, optimize database performance, and enhance API reliability. Your role will involve solving complex challenges, from handling large forestry datasets to ensuring system scalability and resilience as we grow.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable backend services using Python and Django.
• Ensure high performance and reliability of our PostgreSQL database through efficient indexing, query optimization, and data structuring
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to provide well-structured, high-performance APIs.
• Improve system architecture and scalability, ensuring the platform can handle increasing data volumes and user growth.
• Implement best practices for security, monitoring, and cloud-based deployment on AWS.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and mentoring to help grow the team’s capabilities.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in backend development, with a strong focus on Python and Django.
• Experience designing and optimizing scalable architectures and high-traffic APIs.
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL and database optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with AWS, Docker, and cloud-based deployment best practices.
• Ability to debug and optimize backend performance and troubleshoot scalability bottlenecks.
• Strong collaboration skills, with experience working closely with frontend teams and designers.

Bonus Points For:

• Experience working with map applications or Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
• Knowledge of data pipelines, backend event tracking, and logging best practices.
• Strong experience with asynchronous processing and task queues (Celery, RabbitMQ, or similar).
• Familiarity with machine learning and AI-powered data processing.
